Preschool Day 1 / Homeschool Day 2

Well the boys went off for their first day of preschool. Tristan is a brand new student but Collin is a returning student and showed his little brother the ropes. We had no tears on the way out and both boys seemed to have a great day...even if they were a bit tired by the time I picked them up. I think that Tristan is going to take to school well and even though he seems all rough and tumble at the moment I don't think he will break any of the other students. It does help that his class is almost all boys (well maybe it does not help the teacher but....) the other kids seem to be able to handle him...maybe one of them will give him a run for his money :)

Tristan is so excited that he is finally big
enough to go to school with his brother!

Brotherly love.....ahhhh

ok mom we're here...you can go now.

The girls and I had a really nice day as well. They were into their work and we got a trip to the library and a walk in along with our "regular work". On our walk we spotted two Monarch butterflies for our Journey North Project (http://www.learner.org/jnorth/monarch) the girls were excited to finally have a sighting. Morgan got a lesson in why life does not always work out the way you had planned: we stopped into the animal shelter so that we could put in an application to volunteer and the next training is not until November....she is very sad that she couldn't start today.

We have been doing a lot of trying things out to see what the girls are interested in and what works best for us, which has been exciting, liberating, and sometimes overwhelming for their type-A mom. I am hoping that we settle into a nice schedule in the next few weeks because their energy (while wonderful) can be a bit overwhelming!

Just because we can...
