Beach and "P.E." Time

This weekend we got one of our final beach days in at a "Farewell to Summer" party. The kids decided that even if it was a tad chilly (I thought it was freezing) they were going into that water!

Morgan: Queen of the Ocean

I REALLY want to go swimming mom

Today we started studying the Revolutionary War....watch for pictures of our flag quilt and our "feast" that will be coming soon. The girls are enjoying learning about the beginning of the war because we used to live in the Boston area and they recognized places like the Old North Church (I can't wait for the field trip...Mary Chung's here we come).

After some school time indoors we decided we were going to get outside before the temperamental New England weather changes. We did great tree bark rubbings for our Tree Unit (unfortunately they did not photo well) and then the girls set up an obstacle course for the boys. It was nice to see them working well together (for the most part :) ) and the boys had a blast! They really got into the spirit of the competition and there were only a few tears from the 3 year-old (it is hard having the shortest legs....but watch out guys he is getting fast). I am hoping the rest of September is sunny and mild so we can spend as much time outside as possible.

Set-up

Ready...Set....Go!

....Faster

Keep going.

Wrong Way!

Excuse the grainy pictures...Todd had the camera (gotta love cell phone cameras).

  2. Ok...so I JUST found out that you're homeschooling the girls. So I've got to quick catch up and read the whole blog to date. And then you said Mary Chungs and all I can think about now is deliciousness!!! I miss that place SO much. Even with all DC has to offer (including a great dim sum place), it's just not the same.

It sounds like things are going well - When you're ready for your DC field trip, you're welcome to stay with us! We're a 10 min walk from a metro stop!!!!
